About Me:
I am the daughter of Earth, who is auspiciously represented in the image of a woman by the name of Matty.
I'm an Afrikan woman born in the United States by way of Ghana, Haiti, and Jamaica.
After being raised Christian by delightfully conservative parents I'm currently a practicing Buddhist, and quite the Communist. I've been a rabble rouser since birth and spend an inordinate amount of time reading and thinking about politics, especially the myriad effects and manifestations of racism, imperialism and sexism.
I believe that I once upon a time, I was not a very nice person. I was the epitome of rebellion because, unfortunately to some, my “teenage rebellion years” spilled into my adulthood. Imagine my Dear Parents' frustration pertaining to their babygirl's polite, yet thorough rejection of all they ever knew. Now that I have matured into an adult, my rebellion has new labels - Communism. Extremism. Liberalism. Progressivism. Socialism. Populism.
I became enlightened, a bit, about who I am and where my actions were leading me. I made up my mind that I'd like to become enlightened about it all. Nirvana, politically and spiritually, is where I'd love to be.
I am in the process of removing all that brings me suffering. I look around daily and eliminate that which I do not need. I strive for a minimalist home.
Surprisingly, I don't need as much as I thought I did - a cup, a bowl, a fork, a spoon, a towel, multipurpose soap, toothpaste, a chair, my dog.
I have a puppy, Gaea Nokomis Surya Svana who brings me so much happiness. She really is like a human child and she seems to understand every word that I say to her. In human years she would be a toddler, and like a two year old she is strong-willed and very assertive about what she likes and does not like.
I have a mother, a father, a sister, several cousins, two favorite aunts among many, some uncles, a grandmother, another deceased grandmother, and two deceased grandfathers.
Looking forward to meeting others who are looking at the daily implications of faith, spirit and social justice!
